GCC HIMSS NIGHT AT THE RACES
Our final event for this year will be our Annual Chapter Business Meeting and Summer Social. Last year's cruise on the "Sprit of Chicago" was a big success, but this year we are taking it to the racetrack!
During our short business meeting at the beginning of the evening, you will hear a summary of our past year's activities and financial status. Any items requiring a membership vote will also be brought forward and the newly elected Board members will be introduced. The remainder of the evening will be dedicated to networking and fun rain or shine! We will have a private trackside tent with open bar from 6:30pm -9:30pm. Free raffle prizes will be awarded for some lucky members.
We will not be able to support walk-ins, so please plan ahead to register and attend. This will be the year-end meeting that you will not want to miss!

Midwest Fall Technology Conference
www.falltechnologyconference.com
On November 2nd and 3rd, 2009 the Michigan, Minnesota, Greater Chicago, Iowa, and the Wisconsin Dairyland Chapters of the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS) will hold a two-day educational conference at the Amway Grand Hotel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The theme of this year's conference is "Enabling Healthcare Reform: The Role of HIT and the 2009 Stimulus Provisions"
The goal of this conference, at this very special time, is to allow everyone to take a couple of days to come together and review the directions that are being set at the national and state levels and discuss what they mean for provider HIT decisions that must be made very soon. This conference will focus on what we know, what is underway, what is available, and what has worked.
Call for Proposals Now Open
If you have practical information that you can share to help healthcare providers make sound HIT decisions, which will truly meet their clinical needs and meet the expectations being set nationally, then we want you to join us at this conference and share that information at one of the breakout sessions. For full information on the Call for Proposals, please visit www.falltechnologyconference.com/presentations.html

Become a GCC HIMSS Sponsor
The Greater Chicago Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (GCC-HIMSS; http://www.gcchimss.net/) is a diverse group of experienced healthcare professionals working across Illinois and Northwest Indiana. We work at hospitals, corporate health systems, consulting firms, vendor organizations, universities, and a wide variety of other organizations. Many of us are the decision makers in our organizations. Our members range from senior executives to analysts and students. We have technical members and clinical members. The majority of GCC's members have well over ten years of experience in the healthcare field.
What is our purpose?
To plan and conduct educational programs that promote an understanding of healthcare information and management systems, processes and technologies;
To provide members opportunities to share ideas and exchange experiences in the field of healthcare information and management systems through meetings and networking events
To assist members of this Chapter and others in developing their knowledge, increasing their effectiveness, and maintaining high-quality standards of performance through continuing education
During a typical year, we offer 3-4 short educational programs, one half-day or one all-day educational event, a hospital tour/social program, and our always-popular HIMSS national conference social. We are also evaluating Web Conferencing and/or recording of our programs in 2008/2009, in order to give our members outside the Chicago Metropolitan area more opportunities to participate. Our educational programs are designed to share expert knowledge and to facilitate networking among our members. We are also evaluating as part of the upcoming year opportunities for sponsors to provide educational seminars and/or sessions surrounding their vision for healthcare information management and technology. The proposals will be reviewed by our Board as to how well they meet the Chapter goals and enhanced the knowledge of our community. This program will be outside the scope of normal sponsorship levels.
Some of the programs that we are currently targeting for 2008/2009 include:
Fall 2008 Program - Time and Topic TBD
Nursing Informatics Immersion Weekend - October 2008
January 2009 Program - Time and Topic TBD
HIMSS National in Chicago, IL - April 2009 *Representation for Platinum Sponsors only
May Downstate Program - Time and Topic TBD
Webinar(s)* - Quarterly depending on topics *Reserved for Platinum Sponsors Only
GCC-HIMSS appreciates the contributions of sponsors from the healthcare community to help defray the cost of the chapter's programs. GCC-HIMSS has implemented a flexible sponsorship program to allow for companies and/or organizations to align with their marketing goals. The various levels offer different benefits that improve the awareness of our sponsors and in turn provide a benefit to the community of healthcare information management and technology.
